Your Commute Time and Your Health

Ever wonder why you feel tired by the time you get to work than you were when you woke up?  Or have you been short with co-workers for no real reason? The answer may be found in how long it takes you to get to work.  Commuting can take a toll on you – emotionally and physically.  But have you thought about how hard? In a recent poll by Gallup, commuters who have longer travel times have lower overall scores on the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.

Well being index for commutersAccording to this study done over this past summer, the emotional effects of long commutes include decreased enjoyment of employees day, increased worry and increased negative feelings in relation to positive feelings.
