Advanced Energy offers $5000 for drivers to turn a new ‘LEAF’

Considering getting a Nissan Leaf? Advanced Energy is offering $5000 to 40 qualified Triangle drivers.

When I was in London last week a woman on Portobello Rd tried to sell me leaves she had haphazardly laminated with tape.  Her “bookmarks”, in addition  to the problems they might have caused me in Customs, were £2 each and not exactly my cup of tea. While I wasn’t interested in those leaves, maybe you’re interested in getting the most efficient EPA certified vehicle for all fuels ever,  the Nissan LEAF? If so,  Advanced Energy is offering $5,000 to 40 qualified residents of the Triangle to  purchase a Nissan LEAF SL by December 15, 2011.

To be eligible for the stipend, participants must:

• Have a qualifying daily commute (commute to work an average of at
least three times per week)

• Willing to purchase/lease of a qualifying Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) in 2011

• Willing to allow monitoring of vehicle usage and charging activity
for two years

If you’re interested take their survey! For more information and to view eligibility requirements, check here.

For some insights into actually driving the LEAF, check out project manager Staci Haggis’ experiences at their blog. Follow @AELeaf on Twitter to see where the LEAF is headed next!

We like the LEAF’s zero emissions, but you know what would make it even better? Not driving alone! If you need a carpool partner, sign up at ShareTheRideNC.org!
