More parks, less parking! #PARKingWeek

We turned our PARKing into a bocce court and it was at least  110% more fun than just parking in it.

Another Monday means another #SCC2012 Weekly Challenge. This week we’re spotlighting the workhorses of smartcommuting– the ridesharers!

These people literally go the distance to save on gas bills and get cars off our congested roadways, coming from as far as Fayetteville to get to their Triangle jobs.  This week we want the van- and carpoolers to show off their team spirit by turning a vacant parking space into a place you’d actually want to hang out.  Ask yourself what you would do with more parks and less parking and have some fun in the parking lot today.  Need some ideas? We turned our PARKing into a bocce ball court.

Oh! Did I mention that the contest is open to other alt-commuters too? Cyclists, bus riders, and walkers are invited to join in the fun. If you’re a wanna be car- or vanpooler, be sure to check out the resources at GoTriangle.org and TriangleTransit.org.

Reading is a favorite pastime for ridesharers, so we’re giving one Kindle Fire to the group or individual with the best PARKing design. If you had help with your design we’ll let you decide who gets the big prize 😉 All you need to do is share a photo of your creation with us on any of our social media sites (remember to include the hashtag #PARKingWeek) or send an email to  info@gotriangle.org by Sunday, Sept. 30 at 11:59pm.
Don’t forget about our Photo & Video contest, now with more ways to play along using social media like FacebookTwitterPinterestInstagram, and G+.
