What’s a Golden Mode?

In short, it’s an award AND an event. Every year we plan a little shindig to honor the best and brightest SmartCommuters in the Triangle, and guess what! You’re invited.
This year we’re doing it up in Chapel Hill at Top of the Hill’s private event space, the Great Room, easily accessed by the entrance on Franklin Street between Walgreens and GameStop.

How do we select our winners, you say? The SmartCommute Challenge winners are pretty straightforward. We base it on trips tracked and the mode used (carpool, telework, compressed workweek, bus, walking, bike, vanpool). The Golden Modes awards, though, are a little more interesting. We ask for your help to identify people and businesses who advance alternative commuting in the Triangle, and boy, do you know how to help! As I type this very post, GoTriangle staffers are poring over the 200+ nominations we received from October 17-22.

If you want to meet some true blue (I won’t distinguish the shade) alt-transit fans and get the skinny on the 2012 SmartCommute Challenge results,  come spend a Friday afternoon with us.
