When I think of baseball I think hot dogs, peanuts, beer, Ken Burns, Kevin Costner… that’s about it. Have I mentioned I’m not so much into sports?
This should change after July 14th, when I’ll have a new association– bikes! Lifelong Durham resident and my boss, Lauren Parker, sums up why baseball and bikes make such a lovely pair, particularly in the Bull City.
“We love the Bulls and we especially love that the park is right at the opening of the American Tobacco Trail. Instead of driving to the park, we hope we can get many to swap their car for a bike,” says Lauren Parker, Marketing Manager for GoTriangle, Triangle Transit and DATA. “It’s a great way to stay in shape, see downtown Durham in a new way and cheer the Bulls to victory.”
You can work off your Cracker Jack in advance and enjoy the game guilt-free, plus you’ll have some extra ducats to spend on the treats offered inside the park. Win, win! The first 500 folks to bike to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP) will get a voucher that will allow cyclists to purchase a $10 ticket with $5 concession credit and a Bulls swag bag filled with items from us, the City of Durham, REI, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Cyclists will also be treated to free valet service and bike checks.
At the DBAP it’s all fun and games. As part of the Bike to the Ballpark promotion, one fan will compete with Wool E. Bull in an on-field bike themed game. Additionally, Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba will make an appearance and kids can run the bases after the game.
Since we’re helping to present this event, we’ve got 6 tickets to give away, each loaded with a $5 credit good for concessions in the park. To win, just follow us at http://instagram.com/gotriangle and look for the Durham Bulls logo to appear in our feed within the next week. The first six of our followers who comment or like it will win a ticket.
Don’t worry if you don’t score a ticket from us, you can still get a deal. Go here and use “BIKE” as the special offer code to get a ticket for $10, loaded with $5 in concession credit.
