Neon_sign,_-CHANGE-

Change is coming! Some of them bigger than others.

August brings with it back to school sales, warmer temperatures, and service changes. With schools across the Triangle coming back into session, both Triangle Transit and Chapel Hill Transit are tweaking their schedules.

In addition to making some changes that will let Triangle Transit’s route 800 provide 15 minute bus service between UNC and the Southpoint Mall Park and Ride during peak travel times, the 49 shuttle, route 201, and route 700 also have been reworked to improve on-time performance.

Here’s the skinny on Triangle Transit’s changes, effective August 19, 2013. Check back tomorrow for a summary of what’s happening for Chapel Hill Transit.

Route 800:

Approved service changes:

  • Eastbound trips departing from Manning Dr at UNC Hospitals between 4:30pm and 5:30pm, will use a new routing (Barbee Chapel Rd, Stagecoach Rd, and NC-751) to avoid traffic on NC-54.
  • There are minor schedule adjustments for bus stops near UNC to depart several minutes earlier.
  • Additional trips during morning (6:43am-10am) and afternoon peak periods (3pm-5:51pm) will provide service every 15 minutes between the Southpoint Mall Park-and-Ride and UNC.

Stops affected by new service changes:
In the eastbound direction only between 4:30pm and 5:30pm, the bus stop #1144 – NC 54 at Falconbridge Rd will no longer be served by Route 800. As an alternative, customers could use Route 805 to access this bus stop.
