Since our second (and hopefully last) snowpocalypse, Fortify Project work has continued steadily along the Beltine. A new asphalt plant is in place and workers are preparing to rip up 5,000 tons of rubble over the next few days.
Located near the Interstate 40/440 split in southeast Raleigh, the asphalt plant will create new asphalt and potentially reuse some of the interstate’s preexisting asphalt in the Fortify rebuild. So why the creation of a brand new plant? Fortify Project executive Mike Derksen explains below:
